PROJECT COORDINATOR – Nordic Youth Cooperation for Children’s Rights (50%)
Rädda Barnens Ungdomsförbund

General Description

RBUF aims to strengthen collaboration with our Nordic partners – the Save the Children youth organisations in Denmark (Red Barnet Ungdom) and Norway (Press Redd Barna Ungdom). Starting this autumn, we will implement an 18-month project centred around three Knowledge Exchange Hubs: transnational events bringing together an international group of around 30 members. The Hubs will provide a space for members from the three organisations to share experiences, exchange methods, facilitate workshops, and learn from one another’s programmes, practices and approaches.

The project will be guided by a Nordic Youth Cooperation Core Group, consisting of six members – two representatives from each country. The Core Group will develop a cooperation framework designed to establish a sustainable structure for continued Nordic collaboration beyond the project period. The project is funded by the Demos programme of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Vision for the position

The vision of the project is to build a strong and sustainable Nordic movement for children’s rights, while strengthening the organisational capacity of each organisation within the movement. By learning from one another, sharing knowledge and methods, and working together, the organisations will contribute to advancing children’s rights across borders.

By the end of the project, RBUF will be recognised as a reliable partner by the donor, demonstrating excellence in project management, reporting, and donor relations.

The position is not intended to operate in a silo. Rather, it should contribute to RBUF’s broader partnerships, international outreach, and opportunities for members to engage in international cooperation. The work will also contribute to achieving RBUF’s strategic objectives as outlined in the RBUF:s Strategy 2023-2027, while laying an important foundation for the organisation’s future strategy and development from 2028 onwards.

Main responsibilities:

  • Project management
  • Coordinate the overall implementation of the project, ensuring that activities are delivered according to the project plan, timeline, and objectives;
  • Lead the communication, documentation, evaluation, reporting and follow-up of project activities, results, and lessons learned;
  • Process leading
  • Coordinate the Nordic Youth Cooperation Core Group and support its six members in steering the project;
  • Coordinate the development of the written Nordic cooperation guideline, ensuring that learning and experiences from the project are captured and translated into a sustainable framework for future cooperation.
  • Event planning
  • Plan and coordinate the three transnational Knowledge Exchange Hubs (in Denmark, Norway and Sweden), including logistics, agendas, workshops, participant coordination, and follow-up.
  • Partnership Engagement
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen and sustain Nordic cooperation beyond the project period;
  • Member engagement
  • Ensure that children’s and young people’s perspectives and meaningful participation remain central throughout the project.

To succeed in this role, you will need

  • Experience leading and coordinating projects;
  • Ability to move seamlessly between strategic and operational work – from developing long-term structures to addressing practical day-to-day issues.
  • Experience managing budgets, reporting and monitoring progress against goals and intended outcomes.

  • Experience working with children and young people and creating safe, inclusive, and youth-led processes;
  • Experience planning and delivering complex transnational events;
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and effective relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders across different cultural and professional contexts;

  • Good communication skills in English and Swedish (and preferably other languages).
  • A strong understanding of children’s rights.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, queer feminism and anti-ageism, and alignment with the broader values of Rädda Barnens Ungdomsförbund.

Experience or active involvement in children’s and youth organisations is considered a merrit.
