Fundraising Trainee

The Right Livelihood Foundation is entering an exciting expansion phase of our fundraising team. We boost urgent and long-term social change by honouring and supporting change-makers who contribute to a sustainable, just and peaceful world for everyone. Our team operates in an international environment, with passionate colleagues based in Sweden and Geneva. We are now looking for a Fundraising Admin Trainee who is curious about fundraising, aligned with our cause and values, and eager to contribute to our work.

Purpose of the Role

As Fundraising Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. This position is ideal for someone who is collaborative, systematic and has an appetite for learning and improving things along the way. You will have the opportunity to work closely with fundraising and non-fundraising team members, communicating confidently and effectively to support our mission.

Main Responsibilities

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of donor information in our Filemaker database.
  • Donor Engagement: In order to build and maintain strong relationships with our donor base, assist in engaging with them through various channels, including mailings, newsletters, letters, phone calls, and social media.
  • Prospect Research: Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential donors and funding opportunities.
  • Event Management: Assist in the invitation management and the implementation of smaller donor events such as dinners and the main event, the annual Award Presentation
  • Administration: Actively contribute to the improvement of fundraising processes and practices within the team, including both documentation and administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong task and time-management and attention to detail.
  • Confident in personal and phone interactions, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Swedish.
  • Experience with organising events.
  • Willingness to learn about fundraising and the sector.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office software (most importantly mail-merging with Excel and Word).
  • Ongoing or finished academic education in a relevant field.

Additional Qualifications

  • German and/or French language proficiency
  • Understanding of the work of Right Livelihood and the Laureates.
  • Previous experience with fundraising and donor engagement is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience with CRM systems and other fundraising tools is an advantage.

Terms of Employment

This is a six-month temporary trainee position (August 2024 – January 2025). It is full-time and based at the head office in Stockholm. We will only consider applicants who already have the right to work in Sweden.
